SharePoint server EventID 1001 MsiInstaller errors

To monitor this event:
  1. On every server in the SharePoint farm except for the database, create a custom view in Event Viewer.
  2. Logged: Last 7 days.
  3. By Log: Application.
  4. Includes/Excludes: 1000-1030.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Name: MsiInstaller Errors.
  7. Click OK.
This will let you monitor this event in the future so you will know if your changes correct the error.  Afterwards delete the custom view when the error doesn't happen for several days.  These events occurred on my system between 52-20 minutes after the hour every hour, usually between 00-15.

SharePoint 2010: MsiInstaller errors while attempting to manage a User Profile Service Application

When you attempt to manage the User Profile Service Application via Central Admin on a SharePoint Server 2010 with the User Profile Synchronization service started after an IISReset, the following warnings are logged in the application log of the SharePoint server:

Cause

The Network Service account does not have rights to the %programfiles%\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0 folder.

Fix

Grant the Network Service account read access to the %programfiles%\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0 folder
If your User: in the errors above is different than NETWORK SERVICE, use that account instead.
